Practice Rules

Rules are designed to keep all swimmers safe, and allow fairness to all swimmers being instructed.   Additional request from coach and/or board may be made if deemed necassary to keep all safe.

Tardiness:
  • To reduce distractions and disturbance to practices, unless previously approved by coach, swimmers are asked to not join practice if later than 15 minutes.

Absenteeism:
  • Swimmers who miss their practice can be added to another practice group time with coach approval

Siblings and those not currently practicing:
  • Children not actively engaged in practice are to remain off pool deck, with exception of restroom use.
  • If parental supervision is required, all those not in the pool, must be at chairs/tables entertained in quiet play.
  • If you have a toddler who is a runner and/or will not stay engaged in quiet play at the requested area, we ask that you enjoy watching your older child(ren) practice from the picnic tables outside pool deck.
  • Siblings needing to talk with a parent on deck are requested to avoid coming on deck and talk through the fence.
  • Swimmers are not to enter pool deck until 5 minutes before practice time, and remain quietly 5 feet or more from pool deck until your practice group is called.
  • At conclusion of practice time, unless requested by the coach, please promptly exit the pool deck.
  • No interacting or distracting current swimmers, coaches, or junior coaches.
  • Absolutely no horse play on deck.

Parents/guardians and other adults:
  • To ensure safety and fairness to all swimmers/families, please leave all questions and concerns until after practice.
  • Unless asked by coach to assist, please remain the requested 5 feet from the edge of the pool so to not block coach's visibility of swimmers or create distraction.

Bullying:

Bullying before, during or outside of practice between teammates will not be tolerated . Punishment may include suspension from practice and/or meets and could include being removed from team.

Enforcement

Ultimately the coach on deck is responsible for all persons on pool deck during swim practice and must retain line of sight of all swimmers in the pool.  Coach has the authority to exercise his/her discretion regarding measures to ensure safety of all persons on pool deck.

Both the Coach and Board retain right to eject all those violating rules from deck, including swimmers.  Repeated offenses may result from barring of pool deck during swim team practices and lessons.
